Avoid the summer slide and keep kids reading!

It may be summer vacation, but kids need to keep learning. Annually, students who don't read over the summer lose an average of 22% of their reading levels.  It can take 2 months of school in the fall to get that back, leaving many behind.  Kids in grades K-2 should read 20 minutes a day, kids in 3-8 should attempt to read 4 books at their level to stay where they are.
The High School library will be open EVERY TUESDAY this summer from 9:30-11:30.

Here are also some free opportunities online to read... Clicking the IMAGES will get you to the various sites.

The state of Indiana has provided free access to a summer reading program online.  The site requires login information.  For School:  Hoosier Family of Readers   Username:  read  password: read
