Good Afternoon Hamilton Marine Families,
I am writing you today to inform you of the current COVID situation and how Hamilton
Community Schools is being impacted.
As you know, COVID cases have been on the increase in Indiana. In the past three days,
Hamilton Community Schools have been notified of four positive cases that include students
from the elementary, middle, and high schools. Following CDC and county health department
guidelines, contact tracing lists have been created and all impacted students have been
notified. Accompanied with a smaller list of students that were already waiting for results for
themselves or family members, our quarantine list has grown to over 90+ students and staff.
As a result of this unexpected turn of events, I am making the difficult decision to move
Hamilton Community Schools to eLearning from Tuesday, November 10 through Monday,
November 23, 2020. Students will return to in-person learning on Monday, November 30,
I recognize that this decision places an undue burden on many in our Hamilton family.
However, between the staffing shortage this situation creates and the large number of affected
students, I feel this is the best decision moving forward at this time. I truly do apologize for
the inconvenience I know that this will create for many of you.
During the period from Tuesday, November 10 through Monday, November 23, 2020, all
extra-curricular activities, practices, and events are cancelled. If the current situation stays the
same, activities will be able to resume on Monday, November 23 in the evening. We will keep
you informed of this situation.
We will be communicating information related to breakfast and lunch services as soon as we
finalize those plans. Our intent is to offer these services with minimal interruption.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you. These have certainly been trying times of the past many
months. You have and continue to be supportive, and for that we are thankful. Please
continue to encourage your children to wear their masks, practice social distancing when
possible, and continue to monitor your children each morning before they leave for school. If
you would have any questions regarding symptoms your child might be displaying, please do
not hesitate to reach out to Shawn Ray, Hamilton Community School’s nurse.
Again, Hamilton Community Schools will be moving to eLearning beginning Tuesday, November 10 and continuing through Monday, November 23, 2020. We appreciate your support and will continue to put the safety and well-being of our students and staff at the forefront of all we do.
Yours in Education,
Anthony J Cassel
