Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Hamilton Community Schools will start on a 3 Hour delay to try and get the day in. Temperatures are predicted to rise as the day goes on. A 3 hour delay means that school will dismiss one hour later. Buses will run on a 3 hour delay in the morning and one hour later in the afternoon. This may change in the morning as we will assess the temperatures and wind chills which may result in a closure. A decision on closing will be made no later than 8 am. Mrs. Watkins will be sending a message as to how the 3 hour delay will impact morning and afternoon preschool IF it occurs.

Hamilton Community Schools will begin on. a 2 hour delay for Monday, January 20th. We will assess temperatures and wind chills in the morning to determine if we are able to have school or not.

Parents: i have just received the minimum wind chill from the National Weather Service and we are expecting wind chills in the Hamilton area at 6 a.m. for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to be between -20 to -21 degrees at this time. These dangerous temperatures and wind chill will make it extremely difficult to have school each of these three days. We will monitor the cold carefully but be prepared at this time to have alternate plans for your children if we cancel school any or all of these 3 days. Little Marines Daycare will be open even if wind chills exist. Please note that when school is closed, we will not be able to provide food for your daycare children.

At last night's Board meeting, the school board approved moving forward with extending our current referendum for another 8 years. Extending the referendum will NOT increase your property taxes. The tax rate is staying exactly the same as you are paying now. No new tax. Our present referendum raises 2.4 million with 1.5 million dedicated to staff salaries and benefits. It is essential that we again pass it to operate HCS! The election will be on May 6th. Please pass the word... passing the referendum will result in no new taxes . Questions? Please contact me, Dr. Bill Reichhart, Superintendent at william.reichhart@hcs.k12.in.us or by phone. More information will be coming. We need your support for HCS and vote YES!
